My Goodwood 09

Post by age »

Phaseone were invited again this year so we supplied 4 bikes unfortunatley the 09 R1's were away racing in Spain.

Layne took the 1978 Peckit & Mcnab,1993 ZXR750,2000 Gsxr750 and the 2003 GSXR1000 (3 world championship winning bikes)up in the van on Thursday and he stayed on the Friday with other team members. I arrived with the wife at 2:15 on Saturday morning.

We had Terry Rymer running the GSXR1000 up the hill and Steve Manley rode the 1993 ZXR 750 (he last rode it in 1993 when he helped win the world championship on it). The GSXR750 was on display on the Dunlop stand and the 1978 Peckit was on display with our other 2 bikes.

The Wife and Myself were lucky to be chosen to represent our team at Lord Marches Ball on Saturday night so On went the DJ as it was a Black tie event.

We arrived at 7pm for a champagne reception where for 30mins they just kept filling your Glass 8)

We were then led into the Marque and we found our table 160 out of errr a lot more, Sat at are table was Terry Rymer and his partner,Trevor Nation and his Partner and my new Pal Carlos Checa 8) I had to keep him updated on the endurance race in Spain as his brother David was riding in the race.

I have to say Checa was a very nice bloke and we chatted about his donnington ride where he explained why he crashed at redgate.

This was then followed by more entertainment outside which was a ballet dancer who then changed to a pole dancing   8) ,at the same time there was water fountains working in time with the music and we had entertainers climbing upto 40ft and then diving off into a water tank ! one even climbed up and then sat fire to himself waiting 30 seconds or so then jumping off
Then this was followed with a huge firework display 8)

We then went back inside to watch a musician perform errrr Will Young !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was at this point we decided to leave and go back to our Luxury tent !

Sunday was more of the same watching some of my Heros do rolling burnouts etec

In a word it was heaven 8) 8) 8) 8)

Photos from Friday here: http://s302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92 ... ed%202009/

Havant edit them yet hence some still need rotating. Also need to upload videos of the F1 cars doing the tire warming while just stood feet away (ears still ringing).

Had a long chat with Nation about the good old days. Quick chat with Phil Reed about his Gilera Quattro gearbox and a hello to Mic Doohan for good measure.

Oh, and Coultard was in the Dinners Club while I had breakfast with Steve Manley.
