Datatagging? :s ....

My new bike is datatagged all over. It came with a certificate etc. What does datatgging do? Do I need to tell anyone other than the DVLA that I'm the new owner etc. Someone explain? Many thanks, Tom!

It makes the insurance cheaper and also if your bike is stolen they can trace all the parts

When i did my insurance i just selected everything to make it cheaper, datatag, alarm disc lock and chain, under 1000 miles a year, 600 quid excess haha.

Thats probalbly not such a good idea haha

you should have a change of ownership form with the datatag details on it to tell them you are the new owner.
fill it in and send it off although there is a charge of about £20 to change details

Yeh but how are they gonna know. Just say it had all that stuff on it when it was nicked. Its not likely the police are gonna find it. Some pikey will of found it up dumped on woodbury common and put it in the back of there 106 van before that haha.

yehp. With Motorcycle Direct now They seem fine.. but if I have an accident or try to cancel my policy I'll soon find out ehat they're really like aswell.
