ssshhh , if you havent got the V5 then cant you just take his name and address and send it off when u get it?? when i sold one of my old bikes i forgot to take the V5 with me and just took the guys name and address and made up a random signiture. It all went through ok.

Scotty, what I have done on a couple of occasions now is write to the DVLA and tell them I have sold/parted with vehicle Reg. No. XYZ123 and am no longer the keeper of said vehicle, but do not know to whom the vehicle has been passed.
On each occasion I have received a letter back thanking me for the information and saying their records have been ammended.
