Re: quickshifter

Re: quickshifter
Basically allows you to keep the throttle pinned while changing up gears. It cuts the ignition for a very short period which allows you to change up gear, much quicker than doing it manually with the throttle. Probably worth it if you are chasing that .2 a lap but not really needed for trackdays imo.

Re: quickshifter
You're confusing Quickshifters with Air or Nitrous shifters. A quick shifter is typically a tension/compression activated microswitch connected to the gearshift pedal and is activated y shifting the gear pedal as normal and works by cutting the ignition for a few milliseconds which unloads the gearbox and allows full throttle clutchless upchanging without the need to dip the throttle. Airshifters and Nitrous shifters work in a similar manner but use a gas powered ram connected to the gearshift pedal to shift gear whilst cutting the ignition for a short period. Air shifters typically work at around 150psi and Nitrous shifters at around 900psi, which shifts a lot faster, but can suffer problems with Nitrous gas freezing in the ram.billinom8s wrote:think they are mainly for drag racing. Re: quickshifter
Shorten's your lap times & your gearbox life!
Re: quickshifter
If it is set up correctly there is no reason why it should have a detrimental effect on the gearbox. Air/Nitrous shifters can damage the gearbox if activated whilst the engine is not running, but a normal quickshifter should not harm the gearbox if the kill time is set properly.graham22 wrote:Shorten's your lap times & your gearbox life!

Re: quickshifter
True, shouldn't effect your gearbox at all.
I had one on the 1098S, was an awesome piece of kit but really not worth it for road riding...
Made wheelies a piece of piss tho...
