HNC Project Inspiration - Annoying Motorcycle Problems

Post by 46robbie46 »

Hi everyone,

You may remember that some time ago i posted on here talking about my BTEC Electronics project which involved a motorcycle airbag trigger system. Because this was a BTEC project i did not have to actually make anything, it was purely a design project.

Because i am now moving on to do a HNC in the same subject, i have to do the same kind of thing again, but actually produce something this time.

Basically, I need to produce a project that solves a simple problem in an effective manner using a fairly simple solution. However, i want to try and make it slightly complex so i can get the brownie points

Anyway, the reason for this post is to ask what you find annoying about your bike, bikes in general or your riding gear. I'm trying to gather some ideas for inspiration because i've got a bit of 'writers block' at the moment!

Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have, i'll keep you all updated!

Cheers,

Rob :D

Depends on how "imaginative" you wish to be (= how hard you wish to work  ) .....

Simple would be things like a digital gear indicator, or a visible warning of a failed light-bulb ........ more complicated could be a tyre pressure sensor or something like that :?
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Tyre pressure thinghas een done. I've got the TyreSmart system which tells me tyre pressures front and rear and also tyre temperatures, and will give a warning if pressure/temps drop below the value I set, it only activates once the bike is above 5mph so the batteries last for ages, just have to be a little more delicate when changing tyres but the tyre fitter I use is very good and has all the proper protective shoes and takes great care not to damage my Marchesini rims.

On the theme of wheels and town riding... something gyroscopic like this would be good so you don't need to feet down at lights & filtering etc.

Like at wheelie school, you could make a component for cutting engine power if your wheelie goes too high!!

Auto-Dip mirrors.. so annoying at night when a car is behind you and his headlights in your mirrors are very bright and distracting..

My BMW had auto-dip rear view mirror.. would be a cool concept on motorcycle..
