Another Tyre recommendation question.

Mate is running a Triumph sprint doing high mileage, wanting dual compound long lasting tyres. What would you recommend? I've not got a clue, only use sticky on a sports bike

i used Corsa 3's on the RR and they have triple compound.

Whats the wear life on those like. He doing high miles on sensible tourer, so not sure he need triple compound. think it's more upright riding he doing, corwall to hampshire weekly.

Pilot Road 2ct's seem to be building a good reputation ...... dual compound tyre too

I think 2CT's and Corsa III's are a little to sporty imo New Bridgestone BT021's are dual compound, so should do the job, or Pirelli Diablo Strada, not dual compound but a very good sports tourer tyre, normally good for a good 6-8,000miles, maybe more if cruising. I've used them before and found them excellent, wet, dry, road and even track!

These two tyre charts might help too (First one is slightly newer but doesnt mean tyres on the bottom ones are useless!)

Interestingly I've got a set of Bridgestone BT021's on my VFR 800 & unusually the rear is out lasting the front....by some margin The front has only covered just over 5k miles & is shot Compared to the BT020's I had on my previous VFR 750 & Firestorm which would comfortably last 8 - 9k miles the mileage from these 021's is quite disapointing, especilaly the front, considering they're surposed to be sports touring tyres.
I'm unsure which to go for as yet, but I think I'll be looking at either the Pilot Road's, or Avon Storms.

On the SP2 I'm currently running Pilot Powers which have covered around 2k miles so far & are wearing very well, evenly, & a lot better than the previous BT014's that I had before.

Gav, I said Pilot Road, not Power ........ I agree the power's are probably too sporty but the new Road 2(ct) is also a dual compound tyre now

BT021 all the way, good high mileage tyre and great in the wet.

Cheers for the input. He's been and got dunlop roadmasters before I could pass him the info. Still useful for future reference. First time back on site in a couple of years as I've been away with my job, nice to see friendly useful advice as usual.

pirelli angels.............new out,cant recomend them enough,great mileage and grip wet,dry and for less than 180 a pair deliverd usally............

Metzler Racetecs, shite all milage, sicky as baby vomit on a clean suit, awesome tip in that feels like you're about to fall off and oh, shite milage!

Alternatively, do like the Pirelli Diablo Corsa's & hated the BT21's, really strange wear on the front....

Will most likely go for Avon storms or another sports touring type for the winter, once the racetecs are done in and I've mullered the B & C Compound Power Ones that is

To be honest they're all great and you'll have to freakin awesome to get twisted on a Sports tourning, even on a track.
