I'd probably recommend the GSXR600K4 because I rode it straight after riding the 05 ZX636 and it was so much more comfortable.. your sat more in the bike rather than on it if that makes sense.

You could go older.. look at 2002/2003 ZX6R A1P.. best of both worlds.. you get the 636 motor in the older style 'bigger' ZX6R.. also look at Honda CBR600F, or a Fireblade..

Try them and choose.. you either was to hoon around or go long journeys with a passenger.. its hard to find a bike that does both, esp. in the 600 range.

just think realistically what percentage of your rides are going to be with a pillion. Maybe 5% would be being optimistic.

If you really care about pillion comfort buy a goldwing, cream trousers and a pair of suede boating shoes (golfing socks are optional but most goldwing drivers seem to choose them)

or on the other hand you could just buy a sports 600 with a credit card sized pillion seat

Hi there, thanx for all the advice, im going to have a look on 04 reg GSX R-600 it has 7350 miles on the clock, for £3000 pounds (private seller) . FSH, no mods exept small indicators. I was just wondering what is service interval on this bike and how much is it to TAX it for a year?

What should i look out for a what to check? Just to be sure not to get ripped off

Milage is low on it, check the engine casings, bar ends and can for scuff marks as the small indcators could show it's been dropped and repaired with replacement fairings.

Look at the forks for leaks etc, tyres chain & sprocket looking for wear, have mine serviced in line with the book at 4,000 but change oil out at 2,000 purely as it's ridden as it was designed to be.

As ever best bet it put £40 - £60 aside and take it down to Steve @ Peak Performance to have the suspension set up by him for you in all your kit, oh and fit R & G crash bungs, worth every penny in my opinion budget another £60 ish i think.

Avoid cans without a power commader, they look great but you can find holes in the performace, besides standard one acts in concert with the R & G's as crash protection

I've tried the following tyres, Pirelli Corsa, Michelin 2ct's, BT21 & Metzeler Racetec K1 front K2 rear, hated the Bridgestone, destroyed the Corsa & 2Ct rears in around 1,500 to 2,000 miles

Racetecs are fab but you've got ride like a loon to warm them up on the and always seem to go back to the Pirelli....although Pwr 1 medium front and hard rear going on for Cartagena next month.

Since I picked mine up 18 months ago I've put 14,000 miles on it touring the UK and europe, summer evening and weekend scratching and hooning round various UK tracks, crashed a couple of times and got both my knees down

As its a 599cc tax is £48 i think..

Im proud owner of 04 GSX R 600 Its in mint condiont i got it checked by the Motorcycle shop specialisng in motorcycle repairs, service, MOTs etc, it cost my only 20 pounds, it already how the crash bungs, it has stock exhaust. I have done all the checks on the internet as DVLA, checked if it was written off etc etc. So happy to have it, i hope weather will be good so i can ride a lot, it has Pirreli Corsa tyres, and aftermarket indicators. Will put here picture tommorow or saturday

I love the fact that is so comfortable and for me better postition than zx6r 05 and seems to be much lighter and smaller even the zx6r is lighter ( but it feels a bit bulky)

anyway, im happy,,, very very happy

Have you looked at K4/K5 GSXR600? I found the K4 GSXR600 alot more comfortable than the 2005 ZX636.. I tried both on the same day..
