I had a 95 GSXR750, pretty much the same as the 94. They're not bad bikes but didnt set the world alight. 200kg dry, about 100-105BHP, quite long though so they dont turn too fast. Biggest problem is aftermarket spares, most of the world thinks GSXR750's started in 1996 hard to find exhausts etc and there aint too many spares on Ebay, but luckily when they do pop up, they go for pennies. Keep an eye on the brakes too, those 6 pots are prone to seizing.

Cheers for the warning! TBH I'm used to regular brake cleaning as winter always takes it's toll on the Bandit brakes , but I'm told the four pot caliper will fit but will have to wait for a while, more pressing issues with discs, chain and carbs first, oh yeah and seeing if an MOT brings up some un expected delights, fingers crossed it'll be ready for the friendly!

On the other point about long wheelbase, does it make cornering vague or just not as sharp as more modern bikes, don't forget I'm coming from a 93 400 Bandit with budget suspension, so vague cornering is my life , I take it a jack up kit would be a good investment? Worked wonders on the B4.

Just not as sharp but I am sure coming from a Bandit, it'll feel awesome You'll see what I mean about long when you sit on it first time, the bars are quite far away and the seat is quite low too. Jackup kit would work, I know you can get them (well atleast could get them!) because the next owner of my bike got one. Dropping the forks through the yokes 10mm will help too.

You can get DynoJet kits for them, but tbh I found mine a waste, didnt seem to do much at all. I spent the best part of £300 on a K&N airfilter, DynoJet kit and setup and got an extra 2BHP, which I am pretty sure was mostly down to the original airfilter being extremely blocked with crap.

Fuel range wasn't pretty either, winter really effected it with carb icing plus reducing the tank range from 110-120miles to sometimes below 90miles!

Apparently the bike is actually dynojetted,theres no paperwork to confirm this but the previous owner mentioned it and when i had the carbs out the needles were adjustable so looks good!

Yeah tbh I'm counting the days , I just cleared some space in the garage so I can work on it and still park the Bandit! As I said I'v already got the front discs ( bargain £56 off flea bay) and been checking quotes on chains. Out of interest what state is the rear sprocket in? Trying to decide on wether I should get new as a matter of course.

Ah wednesday can't come soon enough!

The standard 6 pot brakes were shit to start with, you're better off selling them and replacing them with the 4 pot Nissins that were fitted to the earlier GSXR or the 4 pot Tokicos from a Bandit 12. A Dynojet kit and K&N panel filter should be good for around 5bhp at the top, but will improve the midrange no end. Aftermarket full systems will net better gains than stock headers and a slip on can can ever do. Carb icing is only a problem during certain weather conditions primarily when the air is moist and the ambient air temp is only a few degrees above zero, which then causes the air travelling through the venturi to become very cold and the water vapour carried in the air freezes. It's not likely to affect you at any other time regardless of what people may say. There is an easy DIY fix which invloves tapping into the cooling system and then taking a small bore pipe and looping it around each carb before plumbing it back into the cooling system, but unless you live somewhere where the weather is as described on a regular basis there is very little point. Steering can be improved by pulling the forks up through the yokes by 5mm to 10mm and raising the rear end by fitting 5mm shorter dogbones

I think the sprockets were about half-worn,just starting to look like little waves!

As for carb icing,i cant remember my friend ever saying he suffered from it on the gsxr.I get it really bad on the ninja whenever its foggy and chilly and i put a little squirt of IPA(100% stuff,not rubbing alcohol) in the tank and it works bl00dy wonders i tell you!Costs pennies too compared to proFST.

Sounds good! I used to have a GSXR1100K... had loads of spares lying around until recently, sold them all off on eBay. You keeping it as a sports bike?

Yeah thats the plan, hoping to clean it up and get it looking really nice. Until I get bored that is and either get the rattle cans out and do a Schwantz rep, or do worse and decide to either cafe it or fighter it !
Seriously tho I'd like to keep it fairly standard with maybe some subtle mods under the bodywork as and when I can afford them, I'v always loved the older style Gixxer, seems to have more character or maybe I'm just showing my age !
