It happens all the time... not just for driving offences also. He may have a history of driving whilst disqualified...

Good point. I reckon the press have a tendancy to not publish ALL the information of the court case, and there may well have been other factors to take into consideration. I'm no lawyer, but I'm sure the 'perverting the course of justice' bit had more weight? No idea

ok, i know he was riding like a [willy], but take a look at the punnishment - does it fit the crime and would they do the same to a car driver ?????

ok we have all mucked around at some time in our lives, typical of the nik unmarked bike all camera,d up pressuring confident riders to go faster, if he is such a twit a group woudnt ride with him. sounds like he is the unfortunate one to be made an example of at the start of biking season..... unless you see it first hand dont believe all you read, us bikers need to stick together. also no traffic coming the other way while hes mucking around! real bad ass eh!!

a recent case in burnham found a man guilty of exposing himself on a web cam to a 12 year old and a 13 year old and was let off of prison because he wasn't physically in there presence when he done it, so if you want to know where we stand as bikers in society were more evil than paedo's

Got exactly waht he deserved!! he got the ban for the riding he was doing in front of a copper And the jail sentence was because he had flip up plates for when he passes speed cameras over the speed limit. That was perverting the course of justice and that nearly always come with a custodial sentence of some some kind. He basically was a complete muppet with no care or consideration for other road users!!

Well everyone else has put in their 2p so heres mine. I think the more serious crime in the eyes of the law was the flip up number plate, hence the sentence.
A guy threatened me with a Stanley knife in Bristol and tried to steal my car, I called the police, some kids on bicycles had followed him, the police caught him, he had drugs on him and was high on drugs. He pleaded guilty, and got an 18 month suspended sentence, so served no time and no fine.
I also had my motorbike stolen in Bristol, again the police caught one of the 2 teenagers as they were banging hell out of my bike in the early hour trying to break the chain lock. He didn't give up the details of his assailant, but it was a first offense (he hadn't been caught before) so the police let him off with a warning, and I had to pay £115 to get my bike back from the pound, repair the cut fuel pipe, and broken steering lock, and buy some new mirrors (that I never got back) before I could ride back to Exeter.
So I've gotta say that I do think the Judge was disproportionately harsh in this instance.
