You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Newbie ride out slower pace

Post by GSF-chris »

Hi, first i want to say i joined the 7am mcdonalds on sunday and if your new to this like me they are a great bunch of guys so if you fancy trying it just do it! They will make you welcome as they did me.

What i was wondering was as that group was too quick for a newbie like me with only a 600 bandit and wondered if there were some people that would like to do a ride out now and again as required to a destination grab a bite to eat and ride back say over the moors/coast road etc etc at a more sedate pace(cant afford to lose my licence) may be aimed at the smaller engine size riders or with pillion what ever? No fixed plans just make it up as we go?
Lets see if there is any interest? :D :D

have a look in the rideout section for the ones called 'friendlies'

they are our highest attended rides, once we had over 50 bikes turn up. they are run at posted sped limits and all junctions are marked.

there will be one on............................................SUNDAY JULY 11TH

Yes i would be up for that as well , as all the bikes i have are not capable of even keeping up with ya bandit 600 . where are ya from Chris, would be nice to be run the RD250 in 2 years on from restoration and it has only done 160 miles

Well done Chris, I don't think anyone would have a problem with you organising your own ride out, and by the looks of things you're not the only one who enjoys taking it steady. Not that you're not welcome to join us again. :D

I'd be up for this too =) Sometimes it's nice to chill out a bit and not feel like you have to play 'catch-up' all the time!

Hi Merv im from Cullompton, great to hear from you,im free this week end but wont be free for the next few week ends though.
Do you fancy a spin this week end ? If any one else wants to come give me a shout.
I was thinking Tiverton-Minehead-Porlock-Exford-South Molton-Rackenford-Tiverton some thing like that or if you have a better route?

I like the sound of this, as I feel I am newbie and would like some more experience but not hammering it! I am around this Saturday all day or Sunday morning - any good for a spin?

as my good lady has just pointed out (what with her being a fan of all things slow - yes rideouts and men included in that) the direction of travel you have put up means you will be riding DOWN porlock hill.

i know in the past on summer rideouts, alot of riders in the novice/newbie group have avoided going up the hill let alone down it

i know there is an alternative road that takes a smoother incline/decline but by all accounts this road is non too newbie friendly either.

it's a fun route other than that
