just been bike nazied

Post by billinom8s »

Popped into speed today for a coffee, all very relaxed etc

3 'older' bokes came in started hanging round the cruisers and customs, 2 of them fairly chatty, one of them off examining tyre depth or something.

anyway, time toleave and when i do, the tyre depth guy is stood next to my bike, as i walk up to it he asks me if it's mine, i say yes.
his reply - right now i am gonna give you a verbal kicking. your indicators are too small, all black is dangerous. you could lose a leg because of your indicators, they don't grow back you know etc etc.

his 2 mates came over halfway through his lecture and i could see them shaking their heads behind him as if to say - he is off again.

After informing him that the (front) indicators are high intensity so will be brighter than his only to be shouted down as apparently they were still too small, he then went back to the whole thing about losing a leg and that when it comes to indicators big is better.
I am guess he thought this because on his immaculately clean bmw gs 800 (funnily enough also black) was sat there with its deflector shield emitting indicators.

Not being one to take this kind of abuse lightly i let him have his rant while i put my plugs in, lid on etc then as i got on the bike i asked him how much his normal tescos jeans that he was wearing would save his legs from impending amputation if his indicators failed compared to my leathers.

then rode off with the knowledge he didn't get the last word and his mates would have been taking the pi$$ out of him. :D

i thought oldies were supposed to just be quiet, eat wurthers and smell of wee

The sort of lecture you'd expect from your old man or a policeman, but a bit rich from a fellow biker, I bet he was an ex copper, teacher, instructor or similar. I noticed in France that many of the BMW riders didn't return the node. As a very wise man (Billinom8s) once said a few weeks ago, it's the final addition that makes a bike safe or dangerous, not the size of your indicators.
