European Breakdown

Post by Redlight »

Can anyone recommend a company that will in the event of a breakdown or crash bring my bike back to the UK. There are many on-line, but I was wondering if anyone has had good service from a breakdown operator

Thanks

I have used several companies in the past, but the only one I have ever had to actually use is AA 5star and they were absolutely brilliant 8) They brought my Ducati Darmah back from france on two separate occasions, and fixed a VW camper twice on another occasion

In more recent years I have had policies from Europ Assistance, but have not had to actually use their services.
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Do you manufactuer offer any kind of recovery? My Dad has used both BMW Motorrad for when his HID's flattened the battery on his BMW R1200GSA and used Yamaha Recovery when the oil pressure sensor failed on his Yamaha FJR1300A.

The BMW was in France, but the Yamaha was local. :)

I use AA euro recovery. As I go to Europe 4 or 5 times a year I buy an annual subscription for £100

Carol Nash sorts me out as it is included in my yearly policy

I have never used her abroad but I know someone that has and they were brilliant because he needed a bearing for his rear wheel they located one got it out to him allowing him to continue his holiday with a fixed bike.

I used them on the M5 last week when the Alternator failed in my bike and they were quick and got me home without any fuss but then I was only 60 miles from home although it was 5 O'clock in the morning.

Double check your insurance policy as they might have included it. A lot do

Have a good trip

I can do the next best thing and recommend you DON'T use RAC Assist c/o Ebike

Had a major headache last year in France due to RAC Assist - FJR front wheel bearings went and RAC frigged me around, didn't have a clue what was going on, told me blatent lies, left us stranded in Gace one evening, screwed up the whole holiday then tried telling me both discs needed replacing

The French Recovery and Bike shop peeps were nothing short of fantastic - Vive La France!
We got a Reault Twingo which was a right screem, but it's not the fun we had in mind

Might try that AA Euro Recovery myself later this year... if they're that good.
