Questions Oxford Sport Hot Grips
Hello all,
Its question time once again lol
Its probley due to because I am getting old but I am thinking hot grips this winter, now I am a little bit "hard core" and use my GSX-R600 all year around, so the sport grips are looking ideal for what I want however the down full I am thinking is how good are they on a sports bike ? and will it really distroy the look of the bike?
So does anyone have these on a sports bike at the moment ? if so what do you think of them ?
Cheers All

Re: Questions Oxford Sport Hot Grips
i have the tech3 hot grips on my R1. apparently i had them fitted because my ghd's weren't up to the job.
i find them pretty good, think the oxford ones get hotter though. funnily enough those who have taken the mick out of the grips are the first to grab hold of them when we pull over because their hands are cold.
the grips aren't noticeable really and providing you can be clever with the controller you can make it look neat enough.

Re: Questions Oxford Sport Hot Grips
If I still commuted I would def have a set. Kelly has the Oxford ones (the older style) no problems with them and she's had the same ones since 2005!
You can wire them upto a relay so they turn off when your ignition is off. Although the newer ones maybe ok to connect to existing power lines like the brake light switch etc, but the older ones drew too much power than the cables were designed for.

I have a set on the zx6r, and as Si said - if fitted well you dont even notice them.
I love mine, as when i used to use the bike as my main commuting tool they were great to have!

Just make sure they are wired to the ignition system rather than the battery. Mainly because they won't work properly until a supply of about 13 volts is available - normally above 5000 rpm when the charging circuit kicks in, but also so that when you turn the bike off the supply to the grips goes off and you don't need to worry about getting a flat battery.

Re: Questions Oxford Sport Hot Grips
The new Oxfords dont have to be wired to the ignition, they have a sensor thats trips if you leave them on so it doesnt ding dong your battery, I think as soon as it senses there is 12v only it trips em out.billinom8s wrote:shammy666 wrote:Heated grips - YESSSSSSSSS!!!
