14's more race/grippy, but hence don't last as long...

Check this out for reference...

As you can see, BT014 more track biased, but don't last as long, also I used to have BT090 on my bike as well, but took ages to warm them up, then once warm, evaporated from my bike  so use BT010s instead now :D

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr I don't know to be honest, the ones on my 400, been on there for agggggggges I would hope they still make em bleady good tyres...

however sports bikes are producing more and more at the back wheel and on bikes like gsxr750 and above BT010's just didn't offer enough, hence the BT014. Hope they do still make em though, best tyres I've ever put on the 400 :(

I have ran 010's on various Gsxrs and they are fine and more than grippy enough and maintain their profile nicely - I was thinking of trying 014s for my next set but Im a bit weary of truly shit mileage as I have never got even 2000 miles out of an 010 stuck on a gixxer.

Bear in mind that the 010's made for and (stock tyre on earlier gixxer 1000's) are 010j's i.e they are a different compound to the 010's on most bikes. Its not a normal 010 so the chap down at pro tyre tells me.

I was understanding that the 014's where a direct replacement for the 010's and that the 010's where being discontinued - Im wrong though. Just phoned pro tyre and they informed me that they run alongside each other.

Interestingly enough Bidgestone recommend that on my K2 you do not run 014s on it. either go with the 010j and its relevant front or go for the 012ss and its relevant front.

Well I'm glad they are still making the BT010, as I luv em on my 400...

I was recommended to use BT014's on my TL1000R, but I've put Diablo's on for now, and they are fantastic, bike is much more stable (was twitchy when I had Metz M3's on there)

From what I can tell, BT014's take longer to warm up, but offer a bit more grip over the BT010's which should to the average road user, ie you and me, be noticeable...

However takes longer to get them up to temp in winter compaired to other tyres, like BT010's and Diablos, hence when peeps have asked me before, my advice would be if you want to use BT014's, kep it to the summer months when getting tyre tempature up will be easyier.

On the offside though, more grip is roughly propitional to how long the tyre lasts, so I wouldn't expect a BT014 to last as long as a Diablo or BT010, that's just sods law!

BT010 on a GSXR1000, well depends on how hard to ride it really, unless your strangling the bleady thing all the time I'd expect BT010 would be the best tyres to use, but if you really want a good cain in the summer, either on the road or track, then maybe the BT014's are worth looking into...

Looking at that graph, I can vouch that the BT090's I had on my 400, were very "Race" based, but bugger me even in the summer took ages to get them warmed up so they would grip, but once warm that bike I could put it directly on it's side, mad as fook, however the tyres on the rear only lasted 1000 miles if I was lucky :(

Considering it's colder more than it is warmer, and alot of the time we do short trips on our bikes to whereever, is it really worth having a tyre on the bike thats prolly still cold by the time we get to where we are going??? like the BT014, prolly not, but well in the summer for the few mnths we do get sunshine, might be worth fitting them just for that extra bit of fun :D
