Maxxis Diamond's

Low Budget.. but after something sticky for the summer possible on track at some point. I've had 3 sets of other Maxxis tyres and they were great for the money. Anyone know what these are like?

Depending on mileage over summer, just pickup a set of scrubs. Supercorsas/Racetecs, set ya back about £50-70 with good tread left. Not gonna last if commuting up and down the motorway daily but will take a good 1500-2000 twisty miles.

Yeh those are what I had on the R6. I went through 2 sets in just under a year. Great tyres but thought I might try sumink different

You won't get anything like the grip of Racetecs from Maxxis tyres. If you want the grip then go for the scrubs. Simple choice really if you want the grip then spend the money on some decent race tyres, if you want longevity then get some sports touring tyres.

Why would you spend £160 on them, when for the same money you can have a known brand with a decent reputation

Dunno about the new ones but ive also gone through several pairs of the other (sporty) maxxis supermaxx and have nothing but good things to say about them.If you're on a tight budget and do a mix of commute/fast roads, theyre a good compromise, Ok theyre no supercorsa but they wont get destroyed after one motorway trip either.
The other older sport-touring tyre was good for longevity and ok dry grip but was scary in the wet, lost count of the amount of times I had the back end try to overtake the front..!

Yep - I had the older touring/sport ones on my Z750 and everytime it was even slightly damp the back tyre would be all over the place even under lighter acceleration..but as you said about the sport's theyre awsome for the moeny. So saw the 'diamonds' and i guess they're somewhere in between the two.

Reviving this thread, I am getting a pair of these fitted or at most the latest carnation. Any info on wear, performance and longevity ?

Currently wearing a set right now. So far so good! Tread lasting well (can give a current milage when I check the odo later) but certainly deal with the shit weather we've had recently. They seem to deal with grip on crappy back roads, take hard braking well, although I have noticed a slight vagueness when right on their ear, but that could also be down to my ageing rear suspension .....
I plan to overhaul my back end, new bushes etc. soon so I'll let you know if that helps the vagueness.

As long as your not planning track day antics they seem to be good all round tyres.
