Friday rant.

Post by falcon »

I live in Truro and there's this guy who gads about on what i think is an old Kawasaki GPZ. I have seen him in the area on one occasion and my BF had the misfortune to see him also today.
Let me describe his idea of an outing on his bike. He rides with another guy on a bike and he also carries a pillion who i assume is probably his missus. When i saw them she was clad in a pair of hotpants and today had at least managed a pair of jeans.
The point is he rides fast (no problem with that) but on the dual carriageway he is weaving in and out of the traffic constantly and overtaking at speed on the inside lane. Today he narrowly avoided a car pulling back in. He doesnt use the lights on his bike either even in late November afternoons.
It really p****s me off as its guys like this that really give bikers a bad reputation, and the fact that he has someone elses life in his hands is a horrendous thought.
If i ever catch up with him someday i will just tell him to go home and stick the name Andrew Prowse into youtube and see if he fancies taking risks like that afterwards..........

Rant over
Happy Friday everyone :)

Steady Gal,
I have long since learnt that you will never rid this world of that type of numpty, even though they are attempting it themsleves, and if his pillion rides in hotpants they are no better if not even more stupid for getting on bike like that, just seeing some of the scars from falling off a pushbike should warn anyone, anyhow for crackpot of the year 2 years ago i saw a Belgian wheelying down a slip road onto the Antwerp ring road, (like the M25 but not so ,long and crazier driving) in just a T shirt and shorts at about 80 mph

I'm not supporting this individuals actions, but one of the few things we can enjoy in this country is an element of freedom of choice ...... just because something doesn't fit your ideal of correctness doesn't mean it shouldn't be done ...... there are lots of people out there who want to ban/limit motorcycling, stop bikes/trucks from using greenlanes, etc., - should they get their way too?

Hmm not sure i suggested banning anyone or anything, but using public roads, be it on foot, car bike whatever isnt all about freedom of choice, otherwise people would just be all over the place! I'm no kill joy but You cant just ride/drive like you're the only one on the road as surely that's taking away the choice for others to be safe on the road.

Dangerous driving aside. I do enjoy a somewhat naked feeling when riding. Don't get me wrong, I wear full kit as and when I can, but if I'm taking a 1 mile trip to get some smokes I don't mind wearing tea shirt and flipflops in the summer. Before you all shout me down i spent a year travelling round india on an enfield. Before this I hadn't ridden without a helmet. In this time I found it limiting to have a helmet in town as I couldn't hear and feel other road users. That said, out on the highway I usually wore my helmet.

Before going to India this would have seemed quite crazy, but after this travel I've discovered how liberating it can feel. Full gear can give a false sense of security and looking around it tends to be countries with a colder climate that are fixated on gear. I am however spending good money on Rukka gear and anytime I'm going out of town I do dress for purpose.

Helmets do save lives and if you have a pillion please don't be a twat!

Zactly Moosey, the authorities are trying to ban anything that maybe fun i reckon, that is why i joined MAG to fight them for the stupid rules they try too enforce,

Kawasaki riders - scum.

Look at the facts - bambam, bambam, Gavin (until he say the light)
It's true he will be the one they remember not the others who ride 'safer'. As for the clothing aspect we can't be gear basis although common sense - if owned - should tell them when being stupid.

Ahh well, law of the jungle, Darwin awards etc etcetc

As much as i am not one to deny individuals freedom of choice, I would like to pose the question, would you allow yourself to be dragged behind a car naked at 30 miles an hour? Hmmmmm not that nice an image is it?

Personally I think its sheer stupidity to ride without at least solid boots, some sort of tough jacket and gloves, but there are times when you get caught out or are just test riding your bike after minor adjustments and you don't wear all your gear, so we can't always assume that the rider/ pillion is regularly dressed inapropriately( ?). In the end you just have to let them get on with it, they will be the ones having gravel scrubbed out of open wounds not you!

And as for hot pants, well dress down friday has never been the same again :ymdevil: :ymdevil:
