So I'v been meaning to do this for ages......

Post by badgerKDD »

Those who know my bike well, will remember the wheels have a bad job of shiney bling polished rims inflicted upon them by the previous owner. I'v been meaning to remedy this for ages and having to replace the bearings for my MOT pass gave me the perfect opportunity.

Take a look......

oh and just for fun here's the old bearings and the fitted new ones......

Should pass the mot and i'm ready for March friendly :D

Well I'm hoping to spray the bike Black soon so i'll be posting up pics as the respray progresses, the red wheels should look 'proper' then :D

Ahhhhh it will probably just be looking very scruffy and half prepared at that point, strip and respray comes after the friendly, but you can enjoy the rear wheel B-) !

Nice job! Will that paint be durable?

I ask as I have two sets of wheels that could do with freshening up, was thinking of powder coating. But these look very good. Do you do commissions?

to be honest I don't know how durable it will be, its done with zinc primer first then the colour is red enamel spray. It could do with being left to cure for longer than i did, but I needed to get the wheel back in for today so wasn't able to. I don't do commisions on this sort of thing because I can't guarantee my work durability, its a diy special really. Why not have a go yourself :D , if you want I will give a detailed step by step to help you out.

I see, thought it might be a sideline with all the work you do involving Carbon fibre. Tell us how you get on with them as the job looks fine to me. I have sprayed a few wheels in my time, just the durability of the paint that seems to let it down. The paint sticks fine, just seems vunerable to even the gentilest cleaning scheme!

Cheers,

Nice job on the paint job. I've always wanted to get a good spray gun set up to do some respraying. I know my wheels on my old bike could use some good sanding and painting.

well I have to admit this was done with rattle cans, but i do have proper spray equipment available. The two pack black respray will be done with the proper gear.
