Heres a question ?????

Post by Spykes new ID »

Has anyone bought or considered buying a lid online??? not ebay somewhere reputible....

im after a specific lid (Craft RX8) and if they dont have it at the bike show im going to have to consider buying online....

Now its not the buying im worried about shopped online loads.... its the shipping that concerns me.... how do i know whats happened to it in the time it leaves the shop and gets to me....how can i ever have 100% confidence in that lid......

has anyone else considered this??? thought about this??? or done this???

any advice would be helpfull...

if the lid is coming from a shop and is brand new it should be packed really well so i would have no worries about buying a lid online

Truth is, even for your local "walk-in" shop, you could ask a similar question. How do you know whats happened in the time it leaves the manufactuer and gets to the shop? How do you know or not if the shop-assistant dropped the box or not?

I've not ordered a lid online, but I'd have no quarms in doing so. Its just I've always found what I want at bike-shows or local shops. However, if it is a specific lid you are after, that perhaps isn't that common like you say, you may not have a choice.

Good luck finding what you want.

I bought a lid online a few years back now, I wouldn't do it again though as the sizes vary between the different models ...... take HJC for example, a small in a CL-14 Kast Helmet is a different fit to a small in a AC-11 Livewire one, it's a different matter though if I tried on a specific helmet in a shop and knew it fitted okay and then say I found it cheaper online then I'd go for it.......

Id never buy a lid I hadnt tried on but like AT says if I tried it in a shop beforehand and could then get the same lid the same size online cheaper then Id go for it.

We buy lots of stuff online but for something as important as this i would rather pay a bit more and buy from a retail ouitlet. you get to try all sizes and get a good fit. Try CMS in exeter they would probably be able to order it if its not stocked. Looked on line for mine but could not find it. they had them as stock

I recently bought a helmet from a well known GERMAN company. Walked into shop spent nearly 2 hours trying on lids to find perfect fit, which by the way it was perfecto. But when i was just about to part with my £380 i was told i could only buy display models as they don't stock any helmets other then those. Now who knows how many hands that lid has been through or even dropped by.

I bought mine online & it didn't fit properly, when I asked if I could return it for a bigger size, he told me not to post it. As he would arrange for the courier to collect it from me.

That way it didn't cost me anything to exhange
