I was there too, in the grandstand beside the pits - free tickets & pit passes from the Corona Suzuki team.
Entered a MCN competition, MCN left a message on my answerphone that I'd won on Friday night, rode up Saturday morning, tickets left at the pit gate, good look round, stayed overnight at friends in Gloucester & back up again Sunday morning.
Even met Katja Poensgen.
Corona was new back then, happened to mention I bought when possible locally but not always the case, cue 24 bottles arriving in the post the following week!.
