Somerset Road Safety - Courses 2013

Hi all,
Here are the course dates for stuff we are either running or supporting this year:

RotoMoto - low speed bike handling skills through a series of challenges against the clock - you are are only trying to beat your own time, not others! All will be held at Merryfield near Ilton, and the dates are:
24th March, 23rd June & 8th September. Cost £20

Rider Performance Day - Castle Coombe Racetrack - A day to improve skills, machine awareness and seeing what your bike can do on the track. - 8th May, Cost £99

Max Rider - High quality coaching day that can be individual or split cost between two & have half a day each. If you are serious about how you ride, this is the one for you. Cost £155, the trainer comes to you.

Police Bikesafe courses in Somerset:

28th April - Taunton, 14th July Yeovil & 18th August Frome. Cost £25 - Book through http://www.bikesafe.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Police Ride to Arrive - residential weekend at Portishead. Accommodation and food included, a great weekend of training. Somerset residents get £30 reduction to £130 by using code SOM101
Course dates: 10-12th May and 13-15th September at Police HQ Portishead.

Bikesafe National Event - Castle Coombe Race Track 20th April.
An extended Bikesafe to include a track ride. Lots of exhibitors and bike groups attend also. Cost £30

Last year we ran some ICare trauma first aid courses for bikers, and many of the group mentioned that their own counties didn't run the courses. I can still run them, but there will be a charge of £15 per head, but all will be welcome, not just Somerset. I would warn folks of the noise limit at Castle Coombe before they even think about it.

just gotta look at the castle coombe site for a list of bikes. i know some sports 600's wont even pass with a standard can, but that's on a td, a private day might be slightly different though.

Re: Sound checks - yep as you know they do them, but as long as its not too outrageous, there are ways and means of taking a reading at different locations if you follow my drift..... After all, it is a day to improve rider and machine awareness

I've done the Bikesafe course and also ICARE along with Loftylee... we've both got a few years riding experience between us but still learnt lots! Very worthwhile doing these things, if you only pick up one thing that helps or improves your riding or saves you from having an incident....money well spent!

I did the Bikesafe when I came back into biking after a 30 year 'absence' - it was so good I followed it up with the 'Ride to Arrive' course at Portishead. What value for money it was!!
Following the Police riders does make you realise what litle you know - and how much you've got to learn!! All the instructors were very friendly and helpful with advice and I would think about doing it a second time....
(The police bar also stocks some very good ale.....)
