Tyre recommendations

Been a few years since I had to buy tyres due to being away from bikes.

Any recommendations for a rear tyre for my GSXR, needs to be reasonably hard wearing as I am commuting everyday on it at present, and hopefully reasonable value for money.

Currently has a bridgestone battleaxe, which seems to serve ok for grip.

If you are wanting to change then you better off doing both, I like pilot powers but that's my preferences

Any of the current sports/touring tyres really. they all get favourable feedback. Bridgestone BT023's have just dropped in price as they have been updated, Michelin Pilot road 2's, pilot power 2cts, (Less mileage than road 2s and not much grippier IMO) Dunlop Sportsmarts or Roadsmarts, Pirelli angels ETC EtC

I've got diablo's on one bike, pilot powers on the other ... Diablo's last about 2k miles or so on the TL (which has a tendency to eat tyres), dunno about the michelins on the MV .....

Jamie has Metzler Z6's on his hornet and they seem to work well and last well ..... Should last 5k or so, at least ......i

Dunlop sportsmart's on my 10 done around 5000 miles on them and not dead yet that includes two trips to the ring

Bridgestone BT021 is one I go for every time and I do alot of miles. You'll be fine with the 014 front. You can mix and match just make sure the stickier tyre is on the front.

+1 Funky, according to my local Suzuki dealer they are running the BT-021's at a reduced price too ;) .......

Think the BT 021 was first introduced in 2006/2007. Tyre technology has moved on again and these have been updated with new models.(probably twice now) , and thats why they will be cheap. Dunno whether Bridgestone keep churning these out as cheaper alternatives to their newer stuff or whether they stopped producing them some time back. Might be worth checking the date stamps on them though.

i got maxxis diamonds on my vfr very impressed so far with them have done about 600 miles on them now and some good deals i had a free optimizer with mine first cheap pair of tyres i have every bought normall metz race tec or pirelli man to be honest with tyre tech now very few of us will every reach the limits of them !!!!! its all about the millage really

I think they are produced as a cheaper tyre, as the dealer I use is an old established business with a good reputation and they know me well, so I would be surprised if they were just flogging off old stock. To be honest they don't have the storage facilities to keep masses of old tyres etc. hanging around.
