My Dilemma

Post by goatpants »

Two sprints. It seems that now i have a pillion more often than not but the sprint is not roomy enough, seem to get my man bits squeezed on the tank every time we go out.

As much as I love em I fear that I need something bigger like an adventure bike but would also like a track/road tool to have fun times with. Feel a bit of a numpty cos I not had Jake long but it was getting quite uncomfortable during our little getaway.

Any advice on what to get for 2 up touring and a road and track hack?

hmm, i would say, bearing in mind the, erm, cargo  something like a GSXR K1, can pick them up fairly cheaply, fun on the road and a pain in the ass to pass on track.

As for the touring side of things, i'm guessing you might need something like an XJR 1400 or an XJ 1300

failing that, buy a cricket box :D

I don't know about MrsGP, but the very few times I was pillion (yes, it did happen...I'm totally over it now though, had therapy and everything!) I found the pillion seat on a Sprint actually pushes you forward even with minimal braking and very smooth riding! For something I thought would be a perfect touring/two-up bike, I hated it!

To that end, whatever you decide on as a two-up ride (i'm sure there'll be plenty of suggestions from much more experienced peeps off here) make sure you've had yourself a decent test ride first

Maybe get a custom seat with a back on it for you so the pillion can't slide into you?

'busa or zzr14 for road, gixxer 750 or 1k for track - probs doable for the value of the two trumpets .....

Do you want a real specific track bike or are you happy to have one Sprint for solo/ track stuff and just trade/ sell the other for a better touring option?

If so, I reckon you could get a decent quality Bandit 12 for the price of your existing Sprint, they're good two up but also plenty quick enough, and easy on the wallet come disposables and servicing costs etc.
Cut me in half and I'v got Suzuki written right through me!

Was gonna sell both I think. These bikes a arguably the best 1 up sports tourers money can buy. The suspension is too saggy on them. It will be with regret cos these are brilliant bikes. :((

Went to bridge on Sunday to sit on some bikes. Looks like maybe a GTR1400 if the finances will stretch. Seating position and loads of gadgets. Last night I took my old sprint out for a quick blast, it's not been run since Llandow. Realised how good it is and have decided not to sell it but spend some cash on sorting the shocks. This will be my toy after it's been sorted with a few tweaks here and there. :D
