Help to identify old Mini Bike

Post by avengerpenguin »

I am after some help, years ago I was given a childs mini bike with a strange alleged history, which I am dubious of at best, however I would like to try and find more out about the machine sat in my garage!

The chap who gave it to me, claimed in the 60's or 70's harley davidson was owned by an italian company, and if you bought a new harley you got one of these as part of the deal. I have to say I dont believe this, the paintwork is average and the logo is only a sticker.

What I do know is that it has a moto morini engine, which I think is around 50cc, drum brakes front and rear, fuel tank is the top spare of the frame, single piece seat and bodywork. Ive never had it running, as I think the coil is shot and the head needs a heli coil or repair work where the spark plug sits.

Here's a pic

Grateful of any help in identifying this machine.

I think you will find Cagiva bought Aermacchi/amf Harley davidson in the seventies, there where HD Cagivas runing around i remember, so that is very likely a Cagiva if that is the case,
