Britain's 10 most dangerous roads for motorcycles

Post by Atomic »

Visordown have published Britain's 10 most dangerous roads for motorcycles. Thankfully only 1 is in the south-west (A371 Wincanton - Shepton Mallet).

If you ride like an idiot, you'll get hurt, the near misses I have seen in my short time on a bike, has 8/10 been the biker going too fast( as in seriously quick) in the conditions, weather, weight of traffic, type etc......

You could argue that every road is dangerous for motorcycles, due to the inability of so many drivers to observe the traffic around them, use indicators, mirrors etc.

I just treat every driver as a total idiot, which I hope gives me the edge, but that doesn't excuse me when I forget to plug my brain in, so we can all be idiots behind the wheel or on the bike. ;)

Never a truer word spoken Smiler , I have driven thousands fo miles in trucks , cars , bikes , and the best times are the quiet ones with like minded people on the road , add traffic Jeremy Clarkson wannabe boy racers in high powered cars/ knightbridge tractors , andy 30 something slappers/yummy mummys putting on lipstick and answering the phone doing 120 mph in the suicide lane of a motorway that think the driving licence and Vehicle tax is a god given right to own the road and everyone else must bow down to them then it becomes dangerous ,

Breathe Merv, breathe!!!!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the M48 (takes you over to the Severn Crossing) is the safest road in the UK...its all down to the stats I'm sure, and any road that suffers higher volumes of traffic is sure to have more incidents purely because there are more users.

Mind, the M48? Not the most exciting of rides I can think of!

Someone I knew from my TVR days use to speed test their Cerbera along the M48. Use to go along to the junction just before the bridge to make sure there was no cops about then floor it on the way back towards Bristol. Reckon he saw an indicated 180mph plus a few times :)):

You know what, I travel that road sooooo much, and in honesty rarely see a Police car nowadays ..... (thats probably the kiss of death for me ... )

And to be honest, I quite enjoy that road ....... now the M5 between taunton & Bristol - that is a Boring road ......
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
