Salt

Post by Kata »

Got my CB out from the garage for the first time for a month or so.

I'd given it a good wash and spray with 365 before it went in.

Looked OK, but then I went to the other side and realised that I'd missed the left side brake calliper and fork leg with the spray as one of the bolts was growing white gunge and the fork leg was furring up.

Blody salt! :-(

Seems to have cleared up ok with a bit of rubbing but guess some new calliper bolts will be on order soon.

Is there any consensus as to whether Stainless steal calliper bolts are a good idea or is it better to just replace with original bolts?

Stainless is slightly weaker than standard zinc coated high tensile steel bolts, something to do with how its made ( that's as far as my technical knowledge goes!) but to be honest under normal loads and properly torqued up they should be fine.
Otherwise have a chat to Pro Bolt, they really know their shit :D .
