Leathers - IN - This weather??

Post by MongoSharkey »

Right,
i thought I'd wear my leathers today, bike training, as it wasn't raining this morning...
(having to ride up to Exeter via m5 from tiverton)

Wasn't sure if it was Stupid or i was trying to be Hardcore?? 8-x

Well it started raining about at Collumpton junction services, (leathers , these ones are very water resistant as they are treated....

BUT..... :80:
IT DIDN'T STOP RAINING MOST THE DAY, AS WAS REALLY HEAVY AT ONE STAGE...
And had to ride back in it...

i didnt get wet, but i didnt think to put a jumper on under my leathers... so cold a tad cold in the wetness windyness... :| =))

I THINK MY ANSWER IS ....... STUPID MISTAKE, AND TRYING TO BE HARDCORE...... =)) =))

What are other peoples opinions??
Would you wear leathers in jan? or in the rain? or am i just a muppett..

:-bd :-??

I AM STILL SMILING THOUGH!!!

I've mostly been wearing a mix of leather trousers and textile jacket, but when they promised heavy rain later in the day a while back I put my old Textile trousers back on. I have started wearing my old 'Rock' Boots instead of my Alpinestars bike boots, as the Rock boots have a tread on the sole. Getting the bike in and out of the shed involves walking on grass and mud, which gets a bit slidey at this time of year ;) .

I did wear my leathers, both jacket and Jeans, the other Sunday though, BUT I did remember to wear thermals and thin layers underneath so when it chucked it down I was damp but still warm :ymsmug: :ymsmug: .

Definitely a Muppet :)):

You trusted the weather forecast !!??!

I was out in that rain and it came down in buckets. This time of year my leathers are treated and packed away. Textiles all the way, on the very rare day I get out :(

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP RAINING ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

Leathers that colour - I'd hapily wear waterproofs over them!!!

Got to admit, I hate wearing waterproofs - I leave it to the last minute to put them on and am usually the one under a flyover struggling to put one-piece kit over wet leathers.

Never convinced about the security of textiles so last few times I went anywhere in the cold, wore a thermal base layer, leather jacket with the bodyliner removed (armour still in) and a decent textile jacket over the top with all the armour & thermal lining removed. Leather jeans with cycling shorts under & unlined waterproofs over for my bottom half.

If it is sunny I will always leather it up (maybe with a string vest underneath for warmth). If there is a chance of rain, the textiles go on.
