removal

Post by driverbrook »

Hi, need advice. I have a cruiser that at some time in the past has had these mudguard embellishers added, you know, the ones that stick on the leading edges, anyway they are now getting really tatty, the chrome which was wafer thin has started to peel off and the alloy underneath is grey and furrey, my problem is trying to get them off without damaging the paint, anyone know of a solvent that would remove them as they are really on to stay, the double sided sticky stuff they are on with is powerfull, would be grateful for any ideas, cheers, Arnie

Gently does it with the aid of a hairdryer on low. It's how i get my old tank protectors off when they get tatty. :-B

I tend to use lighter fluid, it gets off glue residue without damaging paint. You might need to apply a few times and allow to soak, but with a little elbow grease you'll get there ;) .

Petrol works wonders to get off residue too! Just make sure you use a clean rag :)
