Monks Rd?

Out of interest, does your horn not work? Might have been more audible than revving the engine .......

Glad the bike is all sorted now though 8)

Looks like he should of been aware of you. You were following for long enough. He obviously wasn't checking his mirrors at all .

Yup, Monks Rd, it's a nightmare. I went for the horn but in my panic missed the button! I swear that little bugger moves when you need it.

Nasty, but it could have been a lot worse. I'm always wary of that scenario.
Many yrs ago I took my weird car to the only main dealer for many a mile and they lent me a couresy car. A 1960s VW Kharman Ghia...lovely white bakelite steering wheel and knobs. Close to home an artic tried to swing through some gates into a little eastate and didn't quite make it. He started reversing. I could find neither the horn nor reverse so I just popped it into neutral and was gently pushed back 10 - 12 yds. When I comfronted him in the estate he had no idea that he'd hit me.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Looking at his back door he doesn't have much luck when he's reversing :)):

Very true. But, there is a sticker often seen on the back of lorries .... "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you" ...... From the moment Wubwub stopped, could you see the vans mirrors?

I'm not making excuses for the driver, but I do understand how it is easy to miss something when reversing a van (as my little caddy is basically similar, with no rear windows) when you are solely relying on door mirrors.

As said before, fortunately all is now sorted and no-one was hurt.

What a moron  I'm always wary of this happening, I make sure I sit to one side so I can see the driver in the mirror, ever since my near miss with a coach full of school kids. I was following it down a hill, there was a tight curve at the bottom and the coach stopped to let a car get by. I left plenty of room between me and the coach, but he decided he had to reverse...and I obviously couldn't... I ended up going forward down the left of him, squeezing in next to the curb. He never even knew I was there. I did have some words to say with the transport coordinator for the college, because if I hadn't been able to get down the side I would have been underneath it :/

Yup. You can't see it in the video because the camera is on the right side of my helmet, but I could see his left mirror.

Instructors nowadays make you sit back from all vehicles so that you can see both their mirrors ( regardless of a rear view mirror). It does mean that invariably someone else will slip into the empty space - but at least they know you are there.
No excuses for the mail man. The distance you followed him, he should have been aware you were there.
Glad it's all sorted.
