Helmet liner washing

Post by menzies3032 »

How do all :D

I have an xlite 701 helmet (which is brill by the way) having just done 3 track days it is smelling very sweaty. Lucky all the lining all detaches for washing however.....

What do I do now.
They say hand wash at 30 deg.
So what does this actually mean?
Some washing powder and swill it around in the bowl in the kitchen? Or wipe it down with wipes? Or something else???

Suggestions please.

I asked at Helmet City, they recommend a gentle shampoo, makes sense really.

If it is just sweaty, rather than dirty, Muc-Off do a helmet sanitiser that you spray on and wipe off. Works very well 8)

Baby shampoo is good. Can use it for the whole inside of the hat too.

Dry naturally, no hair-dryers, tumble dryers, radiators etc.
Will take about 48 hrs !

Have to agree with Andy, I last used a gentle shampoo, worked fine and smelt like I'd just stepped out of a Salon ;-)

Thanks all used my daughter Johnson and Johnson no tears shampoo.

Seemed to do the job, now drying in the airing cupboard before going back in the helmet.

I take it out, stick in the washing machine at 30 degrees with some nice smelling gel capsules and conditioner then hang out on the line.
