plastic Tank repairs
Anybody know anyone that does them? KTM 950 SM,seems to be leaking around /through a captive thread that holds a panel on at the bottom of the tank. New tanks £800, 2nd hand tanks seem to suffer various problems. Seem to be plastic petrol tank repair kits around. Anyone tried one?

Re: plastic Tank repairs
I had exactly this problem with the tank on my 950 SM. Apparently, they all do it eventually.
I haven't tried one of the kits but I took mine to these guys on Marsh Barton in Exeter
http://www.garnishdip.co.uk/
They only charged me about £35.
They used a standard bumper repair on the bolt hole which sealed the whole thing up completely. It did mean I could no longer use that mounting hole but I used some stick on velcro stuff to secure the trim panel. It lasted well and was fuel tight.
At the same time I asked J D Racing to get on to KTM and ask that they replace it. KTM said no (not a surprise) but did sell me a new tank for 350 quid as a 'goodwill gesture' (a big surprise).
Hope you get it sorted.
