SWB at Portimao 2015 - date posted, price arranged

Post by billinom8s »

After the trip we have all just come back from, the sun, the track, the resort, the hotel, the No Limits running of the event - we had better bloody well go back.

I know there is always lots of 'we have to do this again' chat at a trackday but, WE HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN, AND BRING OTHERS.

So who's in ?

Because the hotel was so nice and relaxing Kim is going back there, which means i guess i am too -

As i get hold of prices or details I'll stick them up on here. I'm not organising anything like Llandow for it, just passing on details so you can make your own choices about timings/hotel/flights etc.

We are certainly staying on the extra night next time so that 3 full days are used, I won't be planning any surgery either to stop me fro riding.

Who's in then ?

cost of 3 days on track, hotel B&B, bike transport there and back from Swindon - £479
cost of plane ticket - £120
cost of fuel for bike - £40
cost of spare scrub tyre (not used) - £40
cost of insurance for myself and kim -£28
cost of additional food and water - approx £70
cost of 2 days van rental for Swindon and fuel £140

of course you can spend more of less, i think bullet went through a lot of fuel, for obvious reasons neither Nick of myself did.
you would save a whole load on the fact you already have a van to get your kit to and from the depot. With looking at this with 12 months head start it's only a matter of a few quid a month tucked way.

We all did this on a budget, scrubbed tyres, pooling lifts etc so corners can be cut.

So circa £900 - £1k for 2.5 days on track - extra if you need an additional night to get the full third day on track?

I'm sure if you speak to mark at no limits he will give you discount for early block booking.

if you book ,say 12 places ,give SWB members until jan or feb to pay or tell mark and he will release the extra places back onto the open market.

who knows, i might even try one of theses euro trackdays myself

Good value if you have the open pit rule....

3-5 bikes on track at a time, looks of space and 1-to-1 tuition.....

Virtually the same price.

i think there were maybe 40 on track at a time on this trip, not that you would have known it.

Any European Track days, basically it's more expensive but not actually by much(£680 for 3 days) and it's open pit, so you can bimble out when you want. Obviously the first day, people rush out but a few hours later, people come and go as they please. It's very relaxed.

http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/tdr/for ... 50460.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The above report says only 10 bikes were there but normally is around 40 for the whole day, not per group as there are no groups.

It's the slightly upmarket, more enjoyable trackdays and the chances of some twat punting you off is reduced yet I've only had 1 issue in all my years.

It really is worth looking in to.

Yep defo doing this again, I think we need to book early in 2015 for the October event.
The cost wasn't that bad.... I took 460 euros and came home with 80 euros. That said we all eat out everynight and we pooled in for food for the track as we bought lots of water and nibbles from a local Lidl.
for 2 1/2 days on track and cracking weather this is excellent value for money.
As for the track.... Feck its awesome!!!

Its undeniable that this is going to be a more expensive than a trip up to Pembrey for a track day =))

Nice group that went this year, its a mix of being away with your mates on holiday and track time added in...perfect :)):

don't forget, this is the best part of 3 trackdays plus a holiday in the Algarve. Add up the cost of those seperately.

to do a similar spec td here - £130 per day minimum
van hire, 2 days £120 x3
van fuel £80 x3
accom £35 x3

long weekend break in 4 start hotel in Portugal ???????

Well as this is simply a thread to see who fancies next years jaunt I'm not going to try and suggest alternative tracks or alternative organisers, not going to post how much it may or may not cost just going to say all being well I'm in

For those who haven't done it befor then don't worry, a little confidence and your be just fine. It's a great bunch of guys and a great place to be. Your riding will improve as will your confidence. Go on and go for it :)
I'm sure you won't regret it ;)
