Yesterday I was up on the Mendips following a big oldish Merc which seemed determined not to let me get past him. Braking in corners and accelerating as hard as he could on any bit of straight.
Then, on a right-hander, he drifted the n/s wheels onto the marbles / grass and lost it. He went almost 90° across the whole road but somehow held it. I took fairly violent avoiding action.
If anything had been coming tother way it would have taken him into me. Had to stop and take five at the first available spot.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?
How long were you following him? Of course, the official line would be if you saw him driving like a nut-job, you should of stayed well back and either wait for the inevtiable (as happened) or a long enough straight to pass in comfort (but then again, would you want the hassle of knowing they were behind you ...... ) In either case you would ensure you are not part of their statistics, nor have to take sudden avoiding action for an event you should have anticipated happening anyway .....
Driving a german made machine has a strange effect on the drivers psyche, you know ....
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away
Had I been driving the car, I would have left me (on the bike) for dead. This guy was not driving fast. Slow in the bendy bits, VERY slow in the real corners then full acceleration on the 50 m straights. I wasn't that close, but the broadside almost brought him to a standstill.
Was out scrubbing a new front. It did well !!

I've tailed you a few times on rideouts and from my experience your a sensible rider and foresee up and coming problems but I think I would have chose to take the 5 minutes break earlier and let him clear off What are you doing out this this weather anyhow
If I can get there for 10am I don't mind if you give me some guidance, I'm quite happy to sit at the back and let the markers back in etc. Is there anything else I need to know (your phone number if I lose you . Oh and is wearing a dayglo compulsory !

For safety sake, yes please. Or a santa suit if you prefer. Peeps need to spot you asap and recognise that you are the last man. Can bring one for you.
