Bad, good, bad, good news

Puncture yesterday in almost new rear. Was repairable, hence £30 rather than £160.

En route to the repairers, I parked ass-out in a normal slot at a s/market. On leaving the shop I was joined in conversation by a nice chap with a nice dog. We talked of bikes, tyres and dogs in the brilliant sunlight.
A lady drove past my slot and proceeded to reverse into it giving my bike a fearsome clout. We both watched it happen.
She was very apologetic and told me her son had a bike which frightened her. Got her reg., name, address, phone no. and insurance co.

The bike had been hit in a such manner that the front had jumped a kerb and lodged in some bushes !
This jump had saved the side-stand from folding !
The front wheel was being partially supported by the bushes.

I got help pushing it out and could see no damage. Her car design was such that it had struck the rear tyre and nothing else. Seems OK after 15 miles...some you win some you lose.

I never use the parking spaces in a supermarket car park for that very reason; too many drivers with their blinkers on!
In fact when I lived in a flat with a communal car park my bike insurance went up as a result of the higher risk. I was told it's safer parking on the kerb on a main road! lol
