Infamy, infamy...

Post by MellowYellow »

Today I've been working on the bike. Went out on the loan bike to get some rattle-can, and on return a car was parked so close to mine that I had trouble getting the cover off it.
So, I moved it up a couple of feet. The car owner came down the street, walked past my bike, climbed into his car and reversed into the bike !
Three times in 4 months. Always stationary, always reversing. Madness.
Bike was moved a few inches, but remained upright - little damage that I could see.
Can you write-off a write-off ??
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Yes you can write off a write off vehicle, but as it is on v-cat register you wouldn't get paid out as much.
Just so you know for next time.

Perhaps consider where and how you park the bike? Could it be parked in a way to avoid others getting so close to it?

going the way it seems to be going, i would rig up a couple of nice, brightly coloured, rattle cans ounted on either side of your bike.

a pressure switch for your freindly car to bump into, causing the can to spray. sit back and enjoy.

Have a word with someone and get some cones to put either side? Park it on the pavement?

NO WAY!!!!

That is just typical,

Personally I would try and get some cash out of this guy what ever you get will go towards the damage you are repairing.

How about a pic of where the bike is? Then we can all put some ideas together. Perhaps a couple of those auto-MGs from the Aliens film...

Three very different locations.

The first was a Tesco car park (Keynsham), the second a leafy residential cul-de-sac (Clevedon), and the third outside my house on a 3-car wide residential road (Bristol).
Nowt to do with the road, the bike, or how it was parked. Just 3 f*****g morons that don't look properly when reversing. X(
