Hi All
I have just been reading on Facebook about a guy that fell off his bike at a tack day and managed to claim for new gloves, helmet, leathers and boots through his house insurance. No doubt it put the house insurance policy up a bit but a lot less then the bike insurance.
Has anybody else ever done this? Is this a known this g that your able to do?

Re: Claiming for bike stuff on house insurance
I was able to claim on the leathers as apparently (according to the insurance lady i spoke to) they could be used for other purposes, not just riding the bike. In the same conversation my helmet was not covered as was only for bike use.
I could have claimed for my phone too.
However they make allowances for how old the leathers were so i didnt think it was worth persuing the claim. If the leathers were less than a year old i may have.
The phone would have cost £100 to fix which was same price as excess so bearing in mind this and insuring the house next year i didnt claim for anything.
