Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Aye, our Henry's been going faster than anyone I know on that Dougie of his for years. I've seen him at it on many occasions, the sprint thing that is, but I also remember him on the grass outfits back in the 1960's and he was one of the men to beat even then.
The National Sprint Association have events throughout the country, including around four meetings a year here in the Southwest at Westonzoyland near Bridgewater; check 'em out on - http://nationalsprintassociation.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Maybe a rideout needs organising; course, you might get tempted and find THIS could happen (website quote .....) .......... "At a lot of meetings, if you have a bike and suitable riding gear, you can enter on the day."
A straightline trackday for next to no money - gotta be worth a punt!
