BST vs Dymag

Post by Bullet »

As the title says!

Anybody with either and has an opionon I'm all ears. I've spoken to the "experts" who bascially say the only difference between the 2 is BST is a newer and later manufacturing process used in aerospace technology whereas Dynag still use older manufacturing techniques. BST may possibly be stronger sightless but no evidence for this. BST is gloss whereas Dynag is matt

Both about same weight saving etc so unsprung weight gain is excellent. Done a lot of research as there is no hard and fast answer as it all seems to be preferences.

I've looked at other makes but in all the reviews I've read and that's bloody loads BST and Dymag always come out on top. Obviously it's carbon al the way!

Not sure I can afford any but the thought is nice!

Haven't a clue about prices, but Dymag are a (relatively) local company if you have any issues (Chippenham). Either look pretty. BST does seem to be the market leader, but Dymag are a relatively new company and don't seem to push/advertise as much?

...... the current Dymag is not the original business - they went bust a few years back and this is another business that bought the name and manufacture rights, from what I understand. Could be worth popping in for a chat and see if they'd do a deal, if your'e passing ......

I thought some forged ally wheels were nearly as light now, and would be a darned sight more resilient to be bounced through the kitty-litter .....
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Spoke to Dynag directly. They said carbon is by far the best and the cheapest! Yes they are 2k but they said they are just as strong and durable as ally etc. They are apparently a lot lighter when they do all the figures.

Spoke to bike hps who reckon they are as good as each other but BST little lighter and better manufacturing process. They both pass test! BST 2.5k! A lot of money for bascially a set of wheels

I'll stick with my 'Dibnahs'. Solid, reliable.

A mate is a serious track day addict on his B-King. He says decent suspenders (Nitron) and BST wheels have transformed his barge - for him it's the best money spent. I don't know his lap times but he says his biggest improvement of several seconds in the fast group at Cadwell was due to the change to BSTs.

I'm booked up for a few track days already. Portimao and Cartagena as well as cadwell Pembrey and of course Llandow. More to book as want to do loads and push myself a bit this year to keep up with our own el Sid! I can get BST or dymag on 12 months interest free so more affordable and BST is looking favourable as love the glossy carbon fibre look!

I had some in mind for the Streetfighter until I went out and blew everything on a new KTM..

When finances recover they may be back on the agenda. I was going for BSTs. They (and the company) are proven and if you're going to spend that much on a pair of wheels every gram of weight saved matters. £2500 for BSTs should include ceramic bearings. Does the Dymag price include them?

Ceramic bearings another 500 on BST and 250 on dymag.
Bikehps seem to be the best priced

Don't make the carry so much, it'll be cheaper than 3 grand on wheels and handle better all over.

Steve at https://conquestcarbon.com/shop/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; offered me the best price including ceramics. He beat HPS but that was with a Ducati forum member's discount.
Worth asking him what he can do.
