Dealers open Sundays in Bournemouth Poole area

Post by green_hodgeheg »

Anybody know of anywhere open on a Sunday please ?? I am over the back of Bournemouth airport tomorrow morning and wanted to see a few bikes live instead of just looking at photos on the internet. Am going potty stuck here with no bike, hearing my neighbours Z1 and just having ickle pictures to look at on line. Wah.

The only one I can think of is 3X.

Not usually open Sundays but they will be tomorrow because they're having a Triumph open weekend. They do have used bikes too. Not the cheapest but its not far from the airport and a browse might give you a bit of a biking fix. Take your license and have a test ride..

I went down there today. The new Thruxton was booked up but I had a demo on the new Speed Triple R. The chassis, suspension and brakes are sublime. Bit down on power to what I'm used to but the handling was superb. Even better than the old Speedy.
Took out a Thunderbird Storm as well for a laugh - the 1700 custom cruiser thingy. Loved it. Comfy, grunty, royally comfortable and ridiculously easy to ride. Sounded good too and was by no means slow. Reckon it would leave most Harleys behind. If I was rich I'd have one as an occasional toy just for the hell of it.
Weather was fine, coffee was free. Ideal way to spend a Saturday.

I went and had a look ! Sat on the Street Triple. Saw a customer's in orange that I much preferred :-) Didn't get a test ride although I said I was interested in Speed Triple. Found some on line in green that look nice !

Speedies are great bikes. Ideally you want a 1050 from 2005 onwards. In real life they'll be quicker than the 1200 Kwak with sharper handling. Because they're great bikes they hold their value though. Good ones start at about 4K.
Worth a test ride before buying. I bought a 2013 Speedy untried. I'm 5'11" and I found the seating position wasn't roomy enough. I wanted to sit further back than I was able to and it felt like I was being pushed into the tank all the time. I may just be odd though because most people say they are very comfortable.

No, I know what you mean there. I felt cramped on the street triple if I'm honest. I think I will hold out for a ZRX at this rate as no cheap interim bike looming and have someone looking up country for one for me who knows them inside out.

Can't help thinking that if you want a big green naked Kwak you're better off with with one of the earlier Z1000s. Faster, lighter and easier to ride than the 1200 with better suspensions and brakes for similar money. And there's more to choose from.

Look at this. Its definitely green..

Ooh yes, Thankyou Gimlet ! I saw that earlier and have sent it to my up country contact for consideration, that's quite modern by my standards :-)
