High Security Chains and Padlocks...

I've been looking at what Chain and Padlock to get, and after much time spent wasted looking on the internet, and also talking in person to lock experts, I've got it down to this very useful set of information...

First thing you may think of checking, is the Sold Secure Website...

I know Almax Security Chains are good, as shown in RIDE...

Turns out these are also the HARDEST CHAINS you can buy for the diameter size of the links (13mm and 16mm)

The Padlock they supply "Squire SS65CS Stronghold" is tough as fook, looking further into that lock, I found it very hard to find any that was better...

Almax do that lock at a very good price if brought with a chain, the lock on it's own can retail for ?G80 on it's own elsewhere...

Almax is the best chain I could find, but if you want the best lock to go with it, look on this site...

Scroll down the bottom to the last lock "Abloy PL260 Norseman"

It's the only one I could find thats better than the Squire SS65CS, but it comes at a price!

I've always felt that your bike only needs to be better secured than the one it's parked next to... thieves are lazy barstards in my experience!
Anyway, I've used an Abus Granit since 1992 and it' still goin' strong. Havin' said that, at the time it was bloody expensive... but you can still buy them new... get what you pay for perhaps?

Maybe no-one want's to nick a 40,000 mile T595!!!!!!!!

Awwwwwww was riding a T595 that made me realised how good Triumphs actually were (oil leaks aside on the 595 was a good bike lol)... was after the 02 model 955i but couldn't find one for sale, seems the owners just don't want to part with them!

Abus still do some good stuff, but as times have changed to a certain extent they haven't, prices are always the same though ?G100-200 all in for seriously good chain and lock

Have a look at the Datatool Python. Its Cat 3 and bloody tough...Ive got one myself.

Yep I did mean that one Jon. First time Ive seen that review. The chain is a monster and so is the lock. Its also rated as Thatcham approved Category 3. Unbelievable isnt it?

Well it's like with the Oxford "Round Key" lock after a while nothing suprises me anymore m8.

Only thing that put me off Datatag in the past is the ammount of peeps telling me about how many problems they had with their alarms, I didn't even know they did chains till you said lol

Just thought I'd say that I've been talking to Maxine (the Max from almax). She is very very helpful and quite keen to 'negotiate a good deal' - so if you are going to order anything make sure you ring up rather than ordering online.

I did.... Spoke to a bloke though...

Brought the 2m 16mm chain, SS65 lock... which is ?G165... and then got 1.5m 13mm chain for ?G40 with it... thats like ?G26 off normal price:D

Idea being the 16mm chain is for when the bike is at home. and the 13mm for when I'm out and about as I can just about carry that one in a bag, the 16mm weighs a Ton though!!! LOL

Anyway it came today, I'm well impressed to be honest if anyone comes prepaired to cut though this they will be prepaired to cut though anything but the ammount of noise they would make doing it would alert everyone around!


PS RobG... I looked at the Datatag chain in a shop today, I reckon it would be very hard to bolt crop that by hand m8 so I wouldn't worry too much, sounds like the bloke on MCN got hit by professionals who had planned the whole thing!
