Breakfast at loomies cafe, April 15th update page 5

Post by Ruffian »

Keep hearing good things about loomies cafe in Hampshire, so was thinking a trip up there next year for breakfast at some stage next year.

It will probably be an early start and a semi sensible finish, as will be 140miles each way,

I go quite regularly. Decide your route and I'll join up as and where. I'm half way there already.
Be careful past Winchester. The A272 to Petersfield can be riddled with speed traps.

Plus one for trip to Loomies :-bd
Been a few times, though not since it recently changed hands; but mates who live nearer say it's still a good bikers cafe.

Awesome, am thinking a date in April for temperature and road conditions.

Not sure if Saturday or Sunday yet but just provisional at the moment.

Tip of the day: if you turn up at Loomies on a Ducati 1098 Streetfighter with the fuel light on, just fill up with the regular unleaded at the garage next door. Don't kid yourself you can make it back to the BP garage at Winchester for some good stuff, because you can't..... ~x(

That sounds like speaking from experience,

Well we will do a route from Exeter to loomies,
With a couple of pick up spots on route up,

I keep hearing the a272 but don't know what routes to take up that neck of the wood's, so will be open to suggestions

From Exeter the A30 as far as Salisbury is probably as good a route as any. If you pick a Sunday morning it will probably be quiet.
I live at Blandford and the A354 to Salisbury is extremely boring. The Shaftesbury to Salisbury stretch of the A30 is much more fun. If you went that way I could meet you at Shaftesbury. There's a convenient petrol station on the A30 in Town.
From Salisbury the obvious route is A30 to Stockbridge then on to the A34 at Winnall (Winchester). The scenery is quite good that way and the traffic is generally light (until you get on the A34) but there's mile after mile of dead straight road. But there are some good back roads south of Stockbridge and Winchester if you can avoid Chandlers Ford and Romsey which is awfull.
I did a Rapid training day round there about three years ago and they found us some cracking roads south of Winchester. I'd have to do some homework with a map before I could commit to a route through the sticks though..

Yep, more fun off the 272.

I took the ride around the SW edge of Winchester and evenshhuuuualy approached Loomies from the S up the A32.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Was looking at a provisional date of the 15th or 16th of April for this.
