Hopefully I can get time off work as I'm working that weekend. Wont be riding with you as I live in Portsmouth and Loomies is my 'local' Meet you on top of Portsdown hill, and lead you on a nice route to Loomies. Be good for you lot to come to my neck of the woods, makes a change me riding from Hampshire to Devon even before I start a ride out!

I have an idea for a route. The 272 is the bikers choice around there but I think it's quite boring tbh. Trouble is we are spoilt for choice down here lol. I went past Loomies a lot of years ago and it was rammed with bikes, but I'm going back to my VTR days so it would've been late 90's.

From the south west, assuming you're not going the congested motorway/dual-carriageway coast route you really need to head to Salisbury. Various options from Exeter though if you're going early enough on a weekend I'd still pick the A30 all the way to Salisbury as apart from a few boring stretches like between Crewkerne and Sherborne its not a bad road when the traffic is light.
Its how you get from Salisbury, round Winchester to West Meon, avoiding if possible the busy A34. Its easy and the traffic is generally light but the obvious routes are straight and boring, especially the A272 Andover Road North.
The old Stockridge road and sneaking round Winchester to the south through Twyford, Morestead maybe. Dunno..

Everywhere in the world south of Salcombe and North of Weston-Super-Mare is bitterly cold and torrentially wet in April. I wouldn't bother. You're better of with a light drizzle and a bacon butty in Hampshire. :-B

How far south were you thinking Jim. I reckon I'll be safe for some sunshine for a few weeks, even in April :)) :)) :-bd
