Although the air temperature is not at full brass monkey alert levels it is still cold, and the roads are still damp. especially where the sun hasn't reached... the roads have that greasy mud coating look about them (around here anyway), not to mention the very low sun...
I think my bikes will stay safely in the garage for a couple of months yet..
If you tax a bike online I'm fairly certain its instant? I've done this before now on a sorn'd bike and printed out the 'evidence' just in case lol!!
I hear what you're saying though, while the suns been a welcome return the past couple of days, the roads are so damn slippery (RWD car woo hooooo!!! yayy roundabouts!!! :)): )
DaddyBlade will be tucked up till there is absolutely no salt around although I have another cheeky number for the cobweb ride ;)

It's the salt on the roads that stops me using the (road)bike.

Even on a dryish day, parking the bike in the garage sees the tyres go wet when damp is in the air.

Can't see the point in not taxing or insuring as despite saying above, you still get a day or two most months to use the bike (used mine last Saturday, Christmas Eve before that).

I'll use the trail bike in most weathers to get a biking fix, not to mention the trials bike for weekend sport - this involves towing it anywhere in a warm car with heated seats and a flask in the boot.

Fair weather rider - I try to be but UK Summer weather usually stops that.

Drove down to Lyme Regis this afternoon to meet some friends, weather was excellent, a few bikers were there too.
I'm almost tempted to come out of retirement early, especially as the roads will be getting a good wash tomorrow.

Well this last week and next weeks forecast can guarantee all the salt will be gone. I tend to ride all year, but pick my days a bit more carefully now. I don't like to stop totally during winter, after all its only super Icy cold a week here and a week there. Also riding all year keeps your road skills up to spec, how many accidents happen in March/ April when the bikes come out of hibernation but the road skills are still tucked up under the duvet ;) .

The farmers seem busy at the moment, driving towards Chard on the A30 this morning and there were a few big mud patches just in the braking zones...
I told my mrs that if was on the SD my sphincter would have probably bitten a chunk off my seat when I hit that! :80:

I'll stick to the green laner for while yet I think.
