1 piece leathers

Post by Nick_ish »

So the hunt begins for a leather suit... being tall, slim and on a budget  Any recommendations? I'm a 40" chest(what they measure suits in?) But from what i've read, seems i may be best looking for a 44/46ish for the length...

Give those guys a go bought a set of RST tracktec 3 for under £300 from them in January. They bought up most of the RST 2019 stock. Good leathers.

Another thing to consider with size is back protector and what you might wear inside the leathers. I'm a shortarse at 5'10" with 42" chest and 36" belly but my 46" inch leathers are tight with back protector and if I wear my heated vest it's very tight and the length is tight in the crotch when stood up but ok om the bike. You're really best off trying on a few suits.....if you can arrange it.
old and disgraceful so doing what I can while I can before I can't

I nearly bought some RST’s until i tried some on.
Took me 10 minutes to get out like some escape artist, I thought at one point I would have to dislocate my shoulder.
Tried some alpinestars and the fit was completely different, much more comfortable.
My next set will be drc’s. £695 for made to measured and your design.

Or go custom fit?

https://www.drcleathers.co.uk are quite reasonable and lots in the race paddock use them.

Could also be worth a call to MCA in Leicester (Dean and Susie Ellison)

They are always more than happy to chat through with advice on things. Brilliant customer service.

Hadn't considered back protectors! (Safety second  ) Hmm seems rst might be worth a look if i can try em on, i wear their textile 2 piece at the moment

Drc seems like the ticket down the line though! Cheers for that folks :) Purely for track use next year... ;)

don't forget that if you find a set and they just don't quite fit in all the right places, LWR GERRY on here can sort them out for you at a VERY reasoable rate.

Then they become made to measure.

I bought a set and they were great until i tried to stand up right - then all of a sudden i started speaking a few octaves higher than usual and got a bit tearful.

took them to gerry and she actually made the suit longer and broader across the shoulders - she is a whizz.

If lots of track use do consider an air bag of some sort, inner or outer one. They are worth every penny if you have an off.

I have a set of black alpine stars.

Pre tested already.
*read that as saved my ass*

Would be available for short money if interested.
I dont think I could fit in them anymore anyways from my incident 8 years ago.
