Trip to Macpherson Motorcycles Plymouth

Post by menzies3032 »

Hi All

On Saturday myself and Billinom8s took a trip down to Macpherson Motorcycles to check the place out and try and sort out a problem with the quick shifter on his track bike. As basically I didn't have much else to so other then enjoy the trip through it might be good to take the Go Pro and have to say glad I did. Although its a small garage was very impressed they have a dyno room, they do MOTs and also a load of maintenance work.

Chatting to the guys when we were down there they were really knowledgeable and clear that all of them have had mega bike time and between then seem to have owned or tried any bike that you wish to talk about.

Anyway if you have 5 minutes to spare check out the vid to see what the place is like.

The guys there were very friendly, had time to chat and certainly seem to know their stuff.

The waiting room/viewing lounge is comfy, good shows on the big screen and with free drinks on top of that it was a worthwhile trip.

They managed to sort out my QS issue quickly so didn't even charge me the full hours rate - result.

This is an old skool style of bike shop, lots going on but not trying to sell you stuff. It's a place you could call in and talk shit for a bit then crack on with your ride.

I've talked to them about doing a dyno day in the future and they're up for it. They've mentioned bbqs and promo events so watch this space.

Didn't even know they existed. Wish I had before riding 400 mile round trip to Hinckley to get my 1190 remapped and dyno'd a couple of years ago.

The fuelling on the new bike is a bit off at low speed and I think it would benefit from a tweak so may give them a call

Si so what was the actual fault.
The bikes we get involved with go to a different dyno setup and are very very clever at squeezing everything for the clients needs. Whether rideablitily or race etc.

I'm not as they are that busy it's hard enough getting slots. But then would happily wait for the right people even if it takes 6 weeks etc.

Never heard of them ..... Have seen their place though, and just assumed they were another plymothian back street garage.

GT performance have use of a Dyno in Plympton for their setup work (HRC RC/RVF750's & the like) and their rates aren't unreasonable .....

They've been there for just over a year, the owner has worked in the Bike industry for years, his main mechanic is a master tech and they younger of the three used to do ecu flashing etc for Hilltop Racing.

They're rates are £40 p.h.

Did he work for Hilltop (directly employed) or remotely as like a franchise?

He was doing the Work for hilltop in this region.

Couldn't do mine as the loom was not standard so I had to send the ecu Direct to hilltop.
