Going electric 2030

So I have just been reading an interesting article,it turns out the ban on petrol and deisel engines in 2030 will not applie to motorcycles and mopeds it will come just not then and only because they are still too early on in development,iv been on an electric motorcycle and they are fun instant power I like how you can hear the brakes and tyres working but something was missing(noise,vibration) so I wont be trying to buy 1 anytime soon ......any one else tried one out ?

Didn't seem as much fun as the petrol version.

I'll keep running the petrol one until it gets taken away.

I did have a go on a Harley Davidson bike that was at the 2019 Motorbike Live Show that was on a rolling road. I can see that it is going to be the future but have to say that its going to be very different to what we are used to. Hardly any need for a clutch, no real sound, a lot of weight for batteries but at the same time the torque and power of them is amazing.

My bigger concern is that when we see the cars move over will Petrol and diesel be left behind with filling stations closing down and your normal friendly ride out become a game of hunt the fuel station. I think this is going to be the biggest thing that will get people to convert when the fuel because so expensive and you don't have easy access to it.

Rode a couple of prototypes at Spa and Osch about 5 years ago.

If we didn't start riding petrol engined bikes, you would know the difference.

For urban areas I reckon they'd be brilliant, for longer rides, range might be an issue. I'd have thought they'd be good off-road, as should be lighter? Things like the Sur-Ron and Ubco weigh sub 50kg

I think that conventional fuel stations will be around for quite some time after new IC-engined four-wheelers are banned - there will still be millions of IC-engined vehicles on the roads for years after 2030 so petrol and diesel will still be available, though the government will probably whack the tax on fuels right up to try and drive a greater migration to EVs. Feckers....

Well someone on the radio the other day reckoned Japan has about given up trying to develop electric vehicles, they are concentrating on hydrogen fuel cell and biomass, so expect to fill your tank with either water or wood pellets soon , only reason we are still going ahead here is the government decides what has to be done and then they go invest their own money in it , and they sit with their heads in the sand waiting for money to pour into their pockets. I was told that back in the days of the development of catalytic converters and lean burn tech that Maggie Thatcher and her cronies had millions invested in the cat development there fore lean burn was not developed as it should have been , which would have been cheaper and better because it would not use preciuos metals dunno how true it is

Theres loads of talk out there about hydrogen fuel cell even launched the first passenger plane sounded amazing and the japs normally lead the way might explain why they have not all ready released a competitive electric motorbike as yet
