Pothole partial tyre deflation.

Just had my first I think.

Hit a pothole towards the end of a ride and the bike felt weird afterwards but I just thought it was me.

Rolled my bike out 2 days later and it was really difficult to turn the bars. Checked the tyre and it had dropped 20psi.
Pumped it back up and it's been fine since..

So watch out for that happening..

Yep, heard this tale before from elsewhere. If the impact was severe enough to partially deflate a tyre, best check the wheel is still straight and true.

Checked the run out by spinning the wheel with a pointer rested against each fork leg. Then gave the wheel a good clean and inspected it for cracks with a bright torch.
All good thankfully.

Good strong wheels on these bikes, Marchesini, very light too.

I did, but just by eye.
I put a pointer near the edge and watched for any distance change, so was looking to see if the rim edge got closer/further away but also if it moved up/down wrt to the pointer. There was no discernible movement.

That was going to be my next test if it failed to hold pressure afterwards.
Thankfully it's been holding pressure just fine since so it appears I got away with that one.

My beautiful Superduke 990, which has now been out three times this year already... I'll have you know!
But with the current state of the roads I might well put it away again.
