Portimao Hire Vehicles (Bristol - Faro)

Post by Tvrv37 »

At the pub meet yesterday the subject of hire vehicles was discussed. It would be great to share some costs so this is the chance to stick you name down if you are interested. For this to work you need to be on the same flights so this is for the guys and gals travelling on:

29/09/22 EJU6005 10:10 from Bristol - arriving Faro 12:45
02/10/22 EZY6010 22:10 From Faro - arriving Bristol 00:45

Ming has kindly agreed to look at options to include minibuses & cars and come back with the most cost effective solution. If your name isn't down it will be assumed you are making your own arrangements. Please copy and paste existing list and stick your names on the bottom.

I'm in for sharing, mini bus or a 7 seater or what ever.
Don't care who you are, how much you have, how powerful you are. You still sit on the toilet with your pants around your ankles. Yep, it's a level playing field..

Thanks Phil.

A quick look yesterday showed 4 seater cars with a bit of luggage space were about £180 for the 4 days. 9 seater buses were nearly £700 so it's looking likely that 2 or 3 cars will be cheaper and more flexible. Obviously we'd need volunteers to drive. I don't mind doing one, and I think there's a 25 year old minimum age, which shouldn't be a problem for any SWB members.....

They do seem to have massive excesses, so it's agreed that should the worst happen and the car(s) get damaged, we'll split the cost across everyone that's going.

Hi I have already sorted out our hire car. Myself Rik, Darren and Kevin will be on a BA flight out of London Heathrow and are doing
29th Sept 08:50 to 11:50
then
3rd October 12:10 to 15:00
(yes we are staying an extra day in the hotel before we fly home.)

I have booked with Avis who were reasonable at £226.64 for a Renault Captur or similar for the full period.

Might want to have a look I have always found Avis very good although they are more the budget end of the rental cars
Road Bike = BMW F900R SE (2020)
