Last minute rideout - Saturday 8th April.

Post by Robbo87 »

Apparently there's an open day, food supplied, at Holeshot m/c's in Yeovil this Saturday so who fancies a rideout to it?
I'll be at Smiley's Cafe, Honiton at 09.30 for an 09.45 a.m. start if anyone is interested.
Full route to be decided but it won't be straight up the A303 and back again.

Your IP address has been logged.
If, at such point in the future anyone in Chard learns what an IP address is, you might be in trouble.. ;) :-$

Here's the route I'm taking from Smiley's in Honiton to Holeshot m/c's in Yeovil and return: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Smile ... m0!3e0!4e1
Leaving Honiton at 0945 hrs I'm heading south on the A375 then it's roughly northeast to Holeshot Yeovil, ETA there approx' 1100 hrs.
After some tyre kicking and coffee at Holeshot it's on to the A37 and head south, stopping to check out the Clay Pidgeon Raceway Cafe for possible future use.
Then Maiden Newton, Crewkerne, Chard and back to Honiton for around 2.30 p.m.
Total distance approx' 90 miles.

If I was as filthy rich as you Al I'd be looking at a new bike but I'm not so I won't

If I was the MV would be on my short list as would the gen3 Busa, Kawa H2 and a few others......but not a KTM

Nope, not on the my outbound route, I'm taking in the delights of of the metrolops of Chard on the way back. Check out my planned route and itinerary if you want to meet up e.g. I'll be at the A3066/ A356 crossroads at Misterton around 1030 hrs I reckon - could meet there.

They're an acquired taste, I agree.

But if you've got taste, then it's an obvious choice 👌

I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to get my ass in to gear in the morning so it's probably better if I just say I'll see you at Holeshot around 11:00'ish. :)

That was a nice day out on two wheels :D . Thanks to the following for meeting up:
Brian (Herr P) for joining me at the start, Richard Jug for meeting up en route near Crewkerne and MV Alan at Holeshot in Yeovil; good to meet up with Alan's son Mike there too, back in the UK for a quick break from Italy.

Holeshot Motorcycles: If you're in the Yeovil area and have a need to gaze at row upon row of shiny stuff, they're well worth a look. There was a mahoosive spread of free food and drinks on offer for the day and if they ever open a cafe there they'll be fending bikers off with a pointy stick.

Also well worth a look if you're in the area is the Clay Pidgeon Raceway Cafe on the A37 south out of Yeovil. The four of us paid it a visit and can confirm that they're open seven days a week and welcome bikers of the SWB persuasion.

Talking of cafes, aforementioned Richard informed of one previously unknown to me (most unusual :)): ), on the Dorset coast, of excellent biker potential, and now filed away for future reference.

Lovely to get out again and met up with some SWB regulars.

Holeshot seem like a nice shop, and the food was lovely. I'll likely drop back in there again on a quieter day, just to pick up any occasional spares for my KTM's and also to let them try again to sell me an 890 Adventure.
