passed my 'Master Technician' Suspension course.

Post by billinom8s »

I was looking to do some further education Suspension wise during my time off of work so enquired at K-tech to see if View ran any courses, turns out View send all their guys to a brain melting location in York.
So a couple of weeks ago I travelled up to York to do my Master Tech ticket, in things that do bouncy on bikes.
The course covered road/track and dirt bikes, so a good mix. Different kinds of forks and shocks were stripped and rebuilt. The rabbit hole of dual chamber forks, oil viscosity, linkage angles, trail ratios, spring theory and even squat VS antisquat pros and cons.
At the end of the week there was an exam and today I found out that I passed.

So now that is sinking in. It would appear that as Mr Clarkson is fond of saying.....I did a thing.

See you all soon.

Simon has just installed new rear shock and fork springs on my DesertX to lower it a tad, and set them up for me. I’m off on a big trip next month so we talked about the kind of riding I’d be doing, the state of the roads I’d be on, and I brought the bike to him for the set-up fully loaded with the luggage I’ll be carrying.

I thought the stock suspension was pretty good before his setup, but was absolutely amazed at how much better it felt afterwards. The ride has been transformed from what it was before … it feels so much more settled and controlled.

Simon’s attention to detail, and the level of personal service you get in his workshop is quite something … it gives you a level of confidence you seldom get from a dealer workshop. I was so impressed with his work that I asked him to do a bit more on the bike installing new chain and sprockets for me as well.

Highly recommended :-)

Congratulations Simon this is a fantastic achievement you must be really happy with that. Considering the amount of suspension work you do on here think its well worth taking it to the next level. Looking forward to getting my 636 on track and will give you call if we need to tweak anything to get it working for my revised weight.
