And what do you propose we do about the other 40% who aren't young dying?Whitetrash wrote:im all for making the test harder and highering ages....
Its about time the goverment realised that Gatso's arent the answer to young bikers dying i think its far too easy for lads to ride with power far beyond their control.

i think putting it down to young riders is totally incorrect. You can't pin the blame on one section of bikers. Just the select few of new riders, born again, or whoever that have inadequate skills and training on the road.
And for the record, having 150 bhp or 50 bhp at your control can be equally dangerous. Its classing young riders as the issue that has brought this legislation up in the first place.

If you want to ride up to dover with me mate then im up for that
Let me know.
I am riding up friday afternoon after kids finish school (They are coming with us), staying in Travelodge Friday night then easy run to Dover Saturday morning. If I was travelling solo would go early Saturday morning but that plan met with stiff domestic resistance, as did turning straight round and coming back Saturday. This has now turned into a 'cultural' trip with a bit of eurocrat baiting thrown in. We return Sunday after a night on the town. And just to think it started as such a simple and inexpensive jaunt.

You had better get your skates on or the ferry will be fully booked or you will only be able to get really obscure times!

Well it seems a bit of a debate is opening up on the whole thing so I'll throw my bit in.
1. Inadequate training is a factor and that is what should be addressed, passing a DAS or otherwise is not adequate training, it just means you have a licence. Surely it would be cheaper to train riders better than to pay the costs involved in accidents, ambulances, hospitals, police etc.?
2. Age is a factor insofar as younger male riders i.e. under 20's are more at risk as they have a potent cocktail of drugs swilling round inside them (Mainly testosterone) which can induce 'bravery' beyond the point of good sense.
3. Therefore I propose that the government introduce a system that provides post test compulsory training, and opens a series of brothels to cater for those who need to unleash their masculinity prior to going for a ride thus calming their throttle hand.
4. Points 1 - 2 also apply to car drivers, and the training thing in point 3 also, but they will not be given access to the brothels, chavs in Novas are an underclass and will only be permitted blow up dolls, which they must also carry around in the front seat of their crapmobiles (Inflated) for easy identification by the police and other roadusers.

1. I agree i especially believe there is a huge lack in training for those wanting to ride sports bikes. There should be a course to teach riders essential skills for riding fast on the roads - counter steering, vanishing point etc.
2. Not quite true i'm afraid those most likely to die or be seriously injured are aged 30-40 (see i paid attention on the op-rider course;-).
3. I do agree that its down to masculine bullsh8t and testosterone tho so am all for compulsary visits to whorehouses for all bike riders
4. I think we should keep chavs in novas as it gives me something to laugh at when i get stuck in traffic in town
so it turns out.........sometime i do give a f*ck

Yes it was piss easy then, laughable really, I think Benny Hill must have had a hand in designing it. Which doesn't change the fact that the roads are way more crowded now, the performance of even mundane bikes like Age's 619 is in a different league, and now that Rover has folded how the f*ck are we to recognise the tossers that shouldn't have a licence full stop.Jenks wrote:ok greg well explain to those that dont know just how god dam easy it used to be 20 yrs ago to get a bike license compared to nowadays? And have you noticed how young the policemen seem? On trhe very rare occasion that is that you see one.
